Let Loose: Ferndale is a campaign designed to bring more tourists to the city Ferndale to experience the lively nightlife Ferndale has to offer. Ferndale often goes under the radar since it is so close to Detroit which is also renowned for its nightlife. I worked on a team of two other designers Destiny Smith, and Dakota Hanson-Meier. Together we created this campaign to show that Ferndale truly has something for everyone. There is a wide variety of places to choose from. You just need to “choose your vibe”. I was head of research and concepting, and I was incharge of creating environmental graphics that would be used to advertise in other cities. Destiny was the motion designer and art director of this project, and Dakota worked on the social posts and copywriting. Together we created a lively campaign to match a lively little city.





PROCESS:


Our process consisted of diligent research on the history of Ferndale, and what goes on in the city. From this research we learned that Ferndale has a lot of cool bars and nightclubs that not many people know about. We selected a few establishments we wanted to focus on highlighting for this project and did a deep dive into their history and niche. We then got into the concepting phase where we went through a number of different aesthetics before landing on this grunge aesthetic that we thought matched Ferndale as a city. We then began designing and through numerous iterations and critiques we landed on this final campaign.
